Belgium is home to the Nike European Logistics Campus (ELC), an impressive distribution centre that combines sustainable innovation with logistical efficiency and provides work for over 6,000 employees.
Located in Laakdal, about 50 km outside Antwerp, this centre is a focal point for logistics operations between global factories and their European customers. Fully powered by renewable energy, this state-of-the-art centre contributes to Nike’s commitment to a carbon-neutral, waste-free future for sports.
To optimise the internal distribution of safety shoes, Nike ELC was looking for a partner that could supply the right safety shoes and improve the internal processes, inventory management, distribution and returns. In collaboration with Dexis Belgium, Telloport delivered an end-to-end solution for distributing safety shoes. In the meantime, Telloport solutions are also used to distribute other materials and shipments internally.
Telloport implemented a distriSPOT, an intelligent locker infrastructure, at each of the five ELC sites. These distriSPOTs currently have two functions:
- Unmanned, automated shop
- Intelligent, unmanned distribution point for receiving deliveries, internal distribution and returns of materials and shipments.
Each location has the right stock of safety shoes that employees can collect independently in a controlled manner.
The Telloport platform is integrated with the supplier’s software systems on one side and Nike ELC’s systems on the other. This creates end-to-end digitisation of the entire supply chain process. Through inventory management, the supplier has real-time insight into stocks, collections and returns at each site and knows exactly when and what needs replenishment.
Nike ELC has clear real-time visibility of the entire process, including consumption, stock, deliveries, and returns. Employees can independently collect, return, and order shoes and even schedule orthopedic visits. Meanwhile, Telloport solutions are also being used for ordering, receiving, and distributing MRO materials, and there is interest in using the solution for other processes, such as laundry and distribution of company clothing.
The Telloport solution at Nike ELC offers significant benefits for all parties involved. Suppliers and internal Nike ELC employees benefit from time savings and flexibility in the delivery, collection, ordering, return and control of materials. Moreover, the end-to-end digitisation of the supply chain process ensures cost optimisation and a controlled process, minimising the loss of materials and shipments. The ease of use of the simple Terminal Interface at any location enables efficient delivery and collection of goods without errors.
